According to PlanetHalfLife an "anonymous leaker" has discovered a way to allow users to play the original Half-Life, and an existing version of Counter-Strike, using the HL2 engine. At this point this is only a rumor and no one over at Gamespy or any other source has been able to confirm that this is actually possible.

There is still no word official word from Valve or Vivendi on what the status or projected release date of Half-Life 2 will be, and according to Mike Thompson of Vivendi Universal "the delay has not been confirmed". Valve is still assessing the damage caused by the theft of the Half-Life 2 source code, and will have more information available to the public as soon as possible.

Obviously we'll be keeping track of what's going on, and we'll get more information posted as soons as we hear about it.
