Novalogic-Joint Operations Delayed

Novalogic sent out a press release this week stating that the newly announced Joint Operations will be delayed from Q4 2003 to early 2004. Joint Operations, which was originally announced less than a month ago, is up to be Novalogic's major competitor for the multi-vehicle, multi game type trend that has been hot recently, and will go up against current big-bruisers like Battlefield 1942, the Medal of Honor series, and the soon to be released Soldner:Secret Wars. Joint Operations will be based in a future/fictional conflict in Indonesia and its current list of features look both promising, and perhaps even overly ambitious...

• Fly helicopters, pilot boats, and drive fast attack vehicles as part of a skilled combat team, firing on the move.
• LiDeveloped using the Black Hawk™ engine, Joint Operations promises superior rendering technology and an enhanced 3rd generation multiplayer experience.
• Use LCAC's (Landing Craft Air Cushioned) or Chinook helicopters to transport teammates and vehicles from island to island or across expansive terrain for mass troop deployment.
• Wage war with drivable modern combat vehicles and up to 64 players online via the NovaWorld games service, or through LAN.
• Play as either a member of the Joint Operations Force or an Indonesian Separatist, with a choice of weapons and vehicles at your disposal.
• Realistic "super-foliated" maps. Travel on vehicles across vast terrains or use the dense jungle canopy for cover while on foot.
• Numerous multiplayer game types including co-operative mode.
• Take out targets and remove threats in single player mode while gaining valuable experience in vehicle control and weapons handling.

Although Novalogic's history of the last couple of years has been...fuzzy, I still have very fond memories of getting capped by Drat from a mountain top with his .50 Barrett in the original Delta Force. Part of me keeps hoping that Novalogic can deliver another game, that is on the same caliber in fun gameplay as Delta Force was, using today's standards, but it's possible that their LANclub legacy started, and ended, with DF. *crosses fingers.

Reminisce with the Lc| guys, about yelling "Sniper On The Hill" and then hearing Drat laugh as he shot you in the head, in the forums.
