I'd have to say that Mafia is structured exactely like a Grand Theft Auto-like game where you must drive to all of your missions. Your character is Tommy, a cab driver that gets caught in the middle of a mob shoot out. After having to assist 2 mobsters by driving them back to a bar they offer you a position in thier family. After refusing to do so, you go about your business as a cab driver untill being ambushed by the mob family you were against in the beginning of the game. After fleeing from them you make your way back to the bar where the mobsters you aided work. You then agree to become a part of the family! Allright now for my review of Mafia! Overall I rate this game a 7.5 out of 10. This is my breakdown of the game: Graphics: 7 The graphics in this game are allright, but not promising. The cut scences are cinamatic though, it makes it loo like a movie, but when it comes to gameplay the graphics are a little fuzzy. Sound: 8 The sound in this game is excellent, the music, the grammer, etc. The game is set in the 30s so the radio in the cars and backround music have music from the 30s to give it a nice feel. The grammer used by the mobsters is very accurate, the words the use, the italian accents, it all sounds accurate. Lastly, the effects are great. The sound of cars, guns, and fighting, makes you feel like your there. Story: 9 For me, the best part of any game comes from it's story and Mafia has a decent story. It's about a man how is suckered into the mafia and wants to get out because of his wife and child so he goes to the police for outside assistance. Controls 6 I am not particularly happy with the controls for the game. The movements and views are wierd. It's like reversed or something, up is down, down is up, etc. The charcter moves basically the same way Max Payne is controlled, it's hard to control the player that way, at least for me anyways. Play Value: 8.5 The game is moderately long in the main game which should keep the player busy for a while but when you are finished there are still things you can do. Like Grand Theft Auto, you can roam the streets and check out the sites and drive the cars you unlock from the main game. Overall, I would say that this game is a must rent. I wouldn't highly recommend purchasing the game unless you like Grand Theft Auto-type games.
