The leaves are beginning to turn yellow and gold on the trees and we all know what that means; PC game companies are finishing up their big titles for the holidays. We have some big games coming out this October of 2003, a sequel to the award winning Max Payne to be one, and a few new comers to the industry like Call Of Duty that show us a huge amount of promise. So let's get down to it and see some of the big titles coming out this month:

10/7-Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword (UbiSoft)- Command the world’s most elite, multinational squad of counter-terrorist operatives in their latest mission. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword, Team RAINBOW tracks the desperate remnants of Gospic’s terrorist organization into the exotic regions of the Mediterranean to prevent their agenda of international anarchy and devastation. In beautiful locations ranging from downtown Milan, Italy, to an outdoor market in Athens, Greece, lead your team against dangerous tangos in 8 all-new single player missions and 5 new multiplayer maps.

10/14-Commandos 3 (Eidos)-Commandos 3 takes the graphics and gameplay of the series to a whole new level. The game features a new interior engine that enables you to rotate the detailed environments and zoom in and out. Prepare your Commandos as enemy bombing raids lay waste to environments, requiring you to change your tactics and approach.

10/14-XIII (UbiSoft)-XIII is the first FPS to utilize cel-shaded graphics to create a visually stunning effect unique within the action genre. The next-generation animation and Unreal Engine technology combine to illustrate XIII's complex and immersive story. XIII features a conspiracy of epic proportions, and players will unravel clues behind the story's compelling and mysterious events through the game's unique flashback visuals.

10/15-Max Payne 2 (Rockstar Games)-Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is a violent, film-noir love story for mature audiences. Dark, tragic and intense, the in-depth story is a thrill-ride of shocking twists and revelations. Love hurts. The fans of Max Payne won’t be disappointed.

The fierce, yet stylish action sequences and slow-motion gunplay that has become synonymous with Max Payne is back and better than ever. New and enhanced moves and options provide breathtaking cinematic game play. Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is set to raise the bar on action games all over again.

10/20-Warhammer 40K: Fire Warrior (THQ)-Fire Warrior is a first person shooter for set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Set over the course of a day, the player takes on the role of Kais, a young Fire Warrior. Kais is part of a team selected to rescue the Ethereal Ko’vash, who has been kidnapped by Imperial Forces. What starts out as a routine mission posing no real threat quickly descends into a symphony of horror and torment. Kais’ mission takes him through intense trench warfare on a battle-ravaged planet to boarding action against his own orbiting ship. Fire Warrior features 17 exciting and diverse levels, 22 exotic characters to battle against and 16 devastating weapons to experience.

10/21-Chrome (Strategy First)-In this futuristic first-person shooter, players become Logan, an interstellar bounty hunter. In the distant Valkyria System, a dispute has erupted over mining rights on some of the newly colonized planets. Tension is high and conflicts are inevitable -- in short, it's a situation where a good mercenary can really clean up.

Logan runs through ten different environments while on various missions. He'll find himself in everything from underground mines to orbital bases. He can use a variety of knives, guns and rocket launchers, and will also employ various useful equipment such as radar sets and medical kits. He can also be given cybernetic implants to improve attributes such as accuracy or speed. Mutliplayer modes include both dexterity and tactical contests.

10/21-Empires: Dawn Of The Modern World (Activision)-Empires: Dawn of the Modern World allows you to completely command unique, historically based civilizations to conquer the globe. Spanning from the Middle Ages to World War II, lead your nation through brutal battles to dominate the world. Each civilization has its own historically accurate units and abilities to be used as you command battles over land, sea and air. From a cavalry charge to a surprise air strike, know what it truly means to rule one of the world's greatest empires.

10/28-Sims: Makin' Magic (Electronic Arts)-Brace Yourselves! The Sims are Makin' Magic! In this expansion pack for The Sims original series, your Sims can cast magic spells to improve their love life, wreak havoc on visiting neighbors, or put an end to their tedious chores. An all-new magical carnival-themed destination, exciting new gameplay, and a whole new cast of quirky characters await you in this powerful pack of magical high jinx. Send your Sims to Magic Town to perform mind-boggling tricks and discover secret recipes for spells and charms. Back home, transform everyday objects into helpful minions, hypnotize your so-called friends, or turn that annoying neighbor into a frog. Watch out, spells go haywire if your Sims lack that magic something. See what happens when you challenge the fate of your Sims as you concoct and cast magic spells with good or bad intentions. In The Sims Makin' Magic, expect the unexpected.

10/29-Call Of Duty (Activision)-Players assume the role of different characters from multiple sides of the Allied forces and experience the bonding and brutality of war as they fight along side their squad mates through a variety of missions, including battlefield assaults, search and rescue, stealth, sabotage, vehicle chases and tank battles. Heeding the call of duty, gamers step into the boots of a U.S. paratrooper, a British commando and a Russian infantryman as they take on the Nazi War machine through pivotal World War II battles and authentic military campaigns.
