As Nintendo struggles to keep up with rivals, Sony and Microsoft, they lower the price of their GameCube yet again.

Video Game Company Nintendo Co. Ltd. began lowering their prices on their lagging video game console GameCube.  Online stores such as amazon.com started posting the price of $99 as early as Tuesday but the official date of the price change wouldn't be until Thursday this week.

This puts the price of a GameCube close to half the cost of the industry leaders, Playstation2 and Xbox.  The future doesn't look too good for Nintendo now that a lot of game publishers have stopped making games for Nintendo because of low sales.  As sad fact for a company that once dominated the industry.

Nintendo still is the leader in handheld games.  It's hit Game Boy Advance SP now sells for the same price as the GameCube itself.  There luckily hasn't been very much competition in the handheld market recently.  Products like GameGear have long since left the market.  Let's hope Nintendo can keep its lead in the handheld market after PlayStation and Nokia release their handheld in the near future.  If not, Nintendo is in serious trouble.
