LANclub started having weekly LAN
parties in Riverside, CA in 1997. Soon, the parties grew to
15, 20 and up to 25 attending on a weekly basis.
Although we still get together on a weekly basis,
(Tuesday nights) we throw a bigger LAN party once a quarter.
Our last party was on June 14, 2003 and we had almost
3 times our normal weekly turnout. It was awesome as we played
a lot of Counter-Strike as well as some of the newer games out there
like BF 1942 and Desert Combat as well as some older classic games
like Starcraft Broodwar. The party started on Friday with
X-box tournaments, continued on Saturday with a big 20 man paintball
tournament. Then it was more X-box and PC LAN gaming until the
wee hours of early Sunday.
We were able to see some sneak peeks into Sierra Entertainment's new
Men of Valor: Vietnam, due out in 2004. Thanks
to all those who helped out and provided food and prizes.
Next party will be soon. Keep watching for more details. |
